SIAMS
SIAMS – The Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools
Intent
The purpose of the regular SIAMS inspection is to judge how a school is performing across 7 key areas
Vision and Leadership – In what way does the leadership of St Martins promote our Vision drawn from Jesus’ promise ‘I’ve come that you have life, life in all its fullness’ John 10:10 and seen and spoken across school as “being the best we can be for ourselves, each other and God’s world.”
Wisdom, Knowledge and Skills – In what way does the school apply its understanding of the Vision through the day to day work of the school?
Character Development: Hope, Aspiration and Courageous Advocacy – How well does St Martins support the development of children and adults building awareness of everyone’s capacity to be an ‘agent for change’ in the world.
Community and Living Well together – How well does St Martin’s promote a community of positive relationships developed through understanding and forgiveness, promoting good emotional well being.
Dignity and Respect – How inclusive are we at St Martin’s?
Impact of Collective Worship – How well does collective worship at St Martin’s reflect our Christian distinctiveness?
Effectiveness of RE – How well do we teach Religious Education?
Schools are inspected every 5 years and the Inspector draws his evidence from a huge range of sources including talking with parents, children and governors as well as observing lessons and collective worship. A report is then provided with areas of strength and challenge for the school – from which we develop part of our School Development Plan.
